Germany’s Flip raises €22 million to scale its AI platform for frontline workers a year after its last funding round
Stuttgart-based employee experience platform Flip has raised €22 million (£19 million) to invest in AI infrastructure and expand its knowledge solutions for frontline and deskless workers.
The funding round includes existing investors Notion Capital and HV Capital, which are increasing their investment in the company. L-Bank, the development bank of the German state of Baden-Württemberg, has also joined as a new investor.
The latest funding follows Flip’s €25 million Series A extension in 2025 and a €26.5 million funding round in 2022.
“AI has long been part of everyday life in the office but, on the assembly line, in stores, or in care settings, it has barely arrived,” comments Benedikt Brand, co-founder and CEO of Flip. “This isn’t due to a lack of interest, but because many frontline organisations lack the digital identity and infrastructure required for AI to make a difference in daily operational work. That is exactly the gap Flip closes: with secure digital identity, AI agents, and custom-generated frontline apps on a single platform.”
Flip’s latest funding comes as investment in European software for frontline and deskless workers continues to grow.
In 2026, EU-Startups has reported several funding rounds in this space, including €200 million for Paris-based Skello, €18.09 million for Madrid-based Orbio, €11 million for Karlsruhe-based Nesto, more than €5 million for Berlin-based Elephant Company, €4 million for Berlin-based Bounti, and €1.6 million for Ireland-based HR Duo. The three German startups offer particularly relevant comparisons for Flip.
Together, these six funding rounds account for more than €239 million in disclosed funding. Including Flip’s latest €22 million round, the total rises to more than €261 million.
“We’ve backed Flip since 2022, and over that time we’ve watched the team build a leading position in the enterprise market, both within Europe and the US. That we are doubling down reflects our conviction that Flip is playing a defining role in shaping the category of AI for frontline teams,” adds Jos White, General Partner at Notion Capital.
Founded in 2018, Flip brings communication, workflows, digital identity and AI together in one app, designed for the 80% of employees who do not work at a desk.
Companies currently using Flip include Bosch, REWE Group, SIXT, TEDi, FORVIA HELLA, Greif and Europart. During its initial pilot with Greif, the company reportedly achieved 85% adoption and maintained 74% weekly active users. Following this success, Flip has expanded to more than 100 sites across 15 countries.
Flip says workers in industries such as production, retail, logistics, care and hospitality are at risk of falling behind colleagues who are gaining AI skills. Without better access to digital tools, frontline workers could face slower career progression, lower earning potential and reduced job security, particularly in industries already dealing with high employee turnover.
As part of its next growth phase, Flip is focusing on its AI app builder, Flip Fusion. The company says Fusion can create customised frontline apps in real time for specific stores, teams or business processes. This aims to reduce the need for companies to spend months selecting, purchasing and customising standard software.
Flip also launched Frontline Identity in June, a feature designed to make digital access easier for deskless workers. It removes the traditional requirement for a corporate email address, helping more frontline employees access their employer’s digital systems.
“We want to see a world where AI leaves no employee behind. This is why we are building the digital foundation companies need to bring their operational workforce into the AI era. After all, AI will only unlock its greatest economic value once it reaches every employee, not just those at a desk,” says Benedikt.
