UK MedTech Strolll secures €5 million in Innovate UK funding alongside IW Capital-led investment
Strolll is a Stafford-based software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) company developing augmented reality solutions for neurorehabilitation, has secured a new investment round led by IW Capital, with participation from Cleveland Clinic and Future Planet Capital Regional.
Alongside the investment, Innovate UK has awarded Strolll a €4.18 million (£3.6 million) innovation loan and an €813,200 (£700,000) Growth Catalyst Investor Partnerships (GCIP) award. The two awards support separate projects and bring the company’s total new funding to €5 million (£4.3 million). This follows Strolll’s €12.2 million Series A round in March 2025, which was also led by IW Capital.
Jorgen Ellis, CEO and co-founder of Strolll, said, “Our team is committed to revolutionising rehabilitation for those living with neurological disorders. This funding will help us accelerate our mission to increase patient engagement, support progression and help clinicians deliver effective neurorehabilitation to a wider patient population.”
Founded in 2018, Strolll is a MedTech company developing digital therapeutics delivered through augmented reality (AR) glasses. Its platform provides clinically proven and patented neurorehabilitation for people living with neurological disorders, supporting treatment in both clinical and home environments.
Strolll says the growing demand for rehabilitation and long-term patient support is driving expansion in the neurorehabilitation market. The company aims to address this need by using AR to make rehabilitation more engaging and accessible while giving clinicians better tools to support patients throughout their recovery.
The company will use its €4.18 million (£3.6 million) Innovate UK innovation loan to accelerate the development of StrolllAssessment, a platform that combines AI with a fully equipped biomechanics laboratory designed to replicate real-world rehabilitation environments. By allowing multiple validation studies to run simultaneously, Strolll says the platform could shorten clinical validation timelines from years to months while providing a scalable and standards-compliant approach to automated clinical assessments.
The funding will also enable Strolll to establish a dedicated biomechanics lab at its Stafford office. The facility will support the development and concurrent validation of multiple digital neuromotor assessments, with AI used to automate parts of the clinical validation process.
Separately, Strolll will use the €813,200 (£700,000) GCIP award, alongside more than €1.16 million (£1 million) in investor funding, to launch StrolllAcute. The bedside-first AR rehabilitation system is designed for acute, bed-bound patients, enabling earlier therapeutic intervention without disrupting existing hospital ward workflows or adding to staff workloads.
Scott O’Brien, Chief Investment Officer at Innovate UK, said, “Across two innovations, Strolll has secured Innovate UK backing because it has proven both its technical excellence and a credible route to commercial success. De-risking later stage innovation through debt finance while providing grant alongside private capital demonstrates how Innovate UK is committed to providing the right product at the right time to accelerate innovation and fuel catalyse business growth.”
This investment will enable Strolll to accelerate its growth and further strengthen its product leadership.
